Hi All,
I've Noticed that the current metricbeat for vsphere, uses the quick stats from the managed objects.
Im just wondering if there has been any initiative to write a metric beat that queried the performance manager API, there are a couple of reasons i could see to do this, though the most appealing would be the capacity to poll the metrics once a day reducing the load on the VCenter and obtaining the metrics over a given time period at given intervals from the performance API its self and not continuous polling every Xs.
I also believe there are more statistics available in the performance manager API than the quick stats.
Note: I have began writing a metric beat that leverages the performance manager API, just checking what the general thoughts are around this and why it has not been done before as i'm considering contributing.
Appreciate any comments / feedback
