What are marvel.exporters in hot threads?

We're troubleshooting an issue in our cluster and came across the following in _nodes/hot_threads.

87.3% (436.2ms out of 500ms) cpu usage by thread 'elasticsearch[host1.domain.com][marvel.exporters]'

The above is showing up rather frequently, and I'm not sure what to make of it. I don't think it's the root cause of the issue, but I'm not sure I fully understand what it's doing.

Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

Are you logging your Marvel data into the same cluster? Cause if you are then that's why, take a look here for best practises.

@warkolm Thanks for the link. I'll have to look into a monitoring cluster for sure.
