What happens if I let my beats service run constantly

Hello,
I have a script that changes my winlogbeat.yml as a scheduled task. What happens if I start the winlogbeat service?
Would he notice the change of data and still use it or would I have to stop the service, change the yml and start it over again(with the new yml config)

yes you have to stop and start the service so it pick up the yml config.
