What is difference between index,indices and type?

I have some confusion on index,indices and type and when it used.

Hi,

how about this:

  • index is like a database
  • type is like a database table

You can search in one index or across more indices (and types).

indices is the plural form of index. One index, many indices (indexes can
also be used).
