What is the memory.size metric?

Have an issue where Elasticsearch, installed as a service, stopped with Windows Event Logs reporting resource exhaustion. Elasticsearch is configured to use only 5GB of RAM but MetricBeat is saying something related to it is using 9+GB of RAM. Just trying to figure out what that metric is.

system.process.memory.size is the total virtual memory size.

hmmm.....I have virtual memory turned off on that box....
