Which cert do I use and where do I stick it?

Remote cluster has a self-signed certificate. Is that the right cert to add to the local cluster and, if so, where do I add that on the local cluster so that the two clusters can trust one another? I'm thinking inside the Elasticsearch.yml but clarification is appreciated.
