16 Indices that I have not created

I have enabled monitoring and I see 16 indices, but I have not created any of them. Do I need them? How do I get rid of them?

Every index starting with a dot is known as a system index. You need to keep them around unless it causes you an issue.
If you need to remove indices, you could remove the oldest ones, like monitoring-es-7-2021.06.23, monitoring-kibana-7-2021.06.23. But they will be removed automatically IIRC after some days anyway.
