Any search_after performance updated?

Search_after queries are not performing as expected

This site generates a lot of writes (new or modified documents) so we need to use some mechanism to ensure pagination consistency by using certain criteria (freshness or price in our cases). As the @mayya 's answer (Thx mayya!), I expected search_after performance has improved at 7.16, so I looked over 7.16 release note, but I can't find this update news.

I'm wondering which version I can use of performance improved search_after.

You are looking at the wrong release notes, these are for our Enterprise Search product.

Elasticsearch 7.16 release notes are here, and the item related to the sort optimization with after is this one:
