Are steps 1 and 2 of migration guide needed on single instance?

Hi,

I am preparing the update from 5.1.2 to 6.1.0. I am currently using a single instance.
The migration guide says I need a full cluster restart.

One question: if using a single instance without any replica shards (I only use primary):
Do I have any benefit of following steps compared to just shut down of 5.1.2 and start 6.1.0? Or is it only needed / brings benefit on clusters?

1. Disable shard allocation
2. Stop indexing and perform a synced flush.
