Can anyone please explain me a query hierarchy?

Hi,

today I faced a situation when putting filters in query -> bool -> filter -> bool -> should and query -> bool -> filter lead to completely different results.

Can anyone explain to me why is that and also please tell me where I can learn about query hierarchy?
