Is it possible to use Azure blob storage to store the indexes. Please note
i cannot use a mounted drive.

No and you should not do that if it was possible.
It would be dramatically slow.
You can use Blob storage for snapshots (backup).
But why do you want to use Blob storage and not attached disks?
