Can we use Gitter for elastic search community communication?

Idea is to use Gitter(Github) chat box for communication.Its easy to use and more collaborative.

We do have IRC channels on Freenode - #elasticsearch, #logstash, #kibana, #beats - but they aren't very active. Are you part of many other active Glitter communities?
