Can you attach or link to your config files for both kibana and elasticsearch?
Is this traffic being proxied at all?
I'm on a corporate network but there is no proxy. Moreover everything is local. The config files for ES/kibana I have not updated except adding the username/password as you specified above, that's the only change I made to config files for ES/kibana.
A couple of things that we could try that may move things forward a bit.
First, are you able to curl elasticsearch using the kibana server credentials that you created?
Second, can you turn on verbose logging in kibana and see if that provides any additional information for us?
