Create a new collumn based on an existing one in Managament index Patterns

Dear,

I have in my data a column which contains strings, now I want to create a new collumn which give a value to this strings "a certain type=0, another one =-1 and the last type has a value equal to 1". Is this possible to do it in this way and yes where can I find it?

This sort of thing should really be done at index time, not after the fact. But you can create a scripted field. More information here: https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/kibana/current/scripted-fields.html
