data frame analytics can perform supervised machine learning on tabular data, not time series. Therefore, the fields with the type date cannot be selected as input features for the model.
Can you please specify where exactly the system asked you for the time field so I can clarify?
This step of the wizard prompts you for the job name, result index, and data view. If you specify a time field, it is used in the data view, for example, to filter by time in Discover. The data frame analysis model does not use information from this field.
Elasticsearch would reindex the original data view into the result data view and add a prediction field. Even if you select only a few fields from the original data view to pass to the data frame analytics model, all of your original fields will be found in the result data view.
