Hi there Jim!

Could you provide some information here? With this it's hard to tell what's going on.

  • Which version of the Elastic Stack are you using?
  • What's currently in the search / filter bar at the top of the page?
  • Are there any errors on the server you could share with us?
  • Are all searches failing or something in particular makes it fail?

here's the search bar in discover

I'm using ELK 6.8

Thanks for the additional information.

I've done some digging and this may be an issue with authentication. Some questions:

  • Are you using Security? (do you have to login to Kibana)
    • If so, can you try clearing your browser's cookies or logging in with a Incognito window?
    • Are you using a user with limited permissions?
  • If you're using Kibana Spaces, does this happen in every space or only some spaces?

Let me know if clearing the cookies / using an incognito window helps. If not, there may be more things we can try.
