I can't find anything in the documentation on how to work with aliases in Rally. Are they supported?

I have created custom tracks where I have queries through aliases so it is definitely possible.
I'd like to create an index and an alias and query data using the alias.
I do not understand the point of this, but you should be able to create the alias either using a raw-request or through index settings when you explicitly create the index.
