Doubts regarding ES

I have a product (version 1) using ES. This product has been deployed on my customers.

Now for the version 2 of my product, I'm making certain changes regarding ES and I have some doubts.
ES version - 5.6.2

  1. If new fields are defined and older ones are modified or deleted, will it effect the existing data on ES present in version 1 during migration to version 2.

  2. If I convert my cluster from single node to multi-node setup, will it effect the existing data on ES present in version 1 during migration to version 2.
