ElasticSearch as Primary data source

It's been long time I worked on Elastic search I saw that 5.0 is releasded and last I worked on was 0.90.

I am not sure how much resilency has been build into ES now. I am also thinking of ES as main data storage DB. I wnat to know if it's wise option and what all difficulties I will have to face.

Also if few good reasons of current versions of Solr vs Elasticsearch that will be very helpful.
