Elasticsearch Not Working

When I am verifying the elastic-search status, its giving me the following
error message.

elasticsearch dead but subsys locked

Please help me out solving this.

How are you verifying this, what method are you using?

getting the elastic-search working.
Still giving the same status message, "elasticsearch dead but subsys locked"

Hi,
Here is the way to solve it:

You have to set the variables in /etc/elasticsearch/elasticsearch.yml:
path.data: path/to/data
path.work: path/to/work
path.logs: /var/log/elasticsearch
path.conf: /etc/elasticsearch

And remember to give access to user "elasticsearch" for folder that
elasticsearch uses:
chown -R elasticsearch /path/to/data
chown -R elasticsearch /path/to/work
