Encrypted at rest files

Last year I asked a question last year about using Elastic Search to store sensitive data.

We need to have Elastic Search / Lucene hold the data in AES256 or better encryption. It's understood that we can run the service on an encrypted volume but we are looking to hold the data in encrypted files on the volume (which is encrypted).

I note in September 2016, it is on the product road map and wondered where it might be now?

At this time we only support running on encrypted volumes using dm-crypt.

I'm sure @joshbressers our Product Manager for Security would be interested in understanding what it is that you need that isn't provided by dm-crypt.
