Graph by Value

I am trying to get a graph of a field value over time in Kibana, but can't get it. I can graph hits or number of docs per time interval but not the value itself it seems.

The field value is of type long.

I have noticed a few others asking about this issue, but have not seen an answer yet (other than checking the type of the field is numeric.)

Indeed, that's the thing to check. If you have your values correctly mapped to number types in Elasticsearch, they will show up correctly in Kibana for plotting on the Y-axis.
