Historical values in the same visualization as new values for comparison

For example you have an index with sales numbers for 2018 and 2019.
(Showing the number of sales for each date throughout the year.)
I want to compare the numbers for 2018 and 2019 in the same visualization, so the user can compare sales for 2018 and 2019.
Is this possible in Kibana?

Hi @Norway,

IIRC the Timelion visualization type supports offsetting a series by an interval.

Yes, the TSVB visualization type also supports an offset parameter. If you want to calculate the difference as a percentage, I've written a tutorial here: https://www.elastic.co/blog/how-to-display-data-as-a-percentage-in-kibana-visualizations

Excellent, that worked very well.
Thank you!
Your solution shows differences in percent, and that works well.
If you have the same comparison for numbers, let me know

Thanks!
I have tried the offset function in Timelion, but I am not able to compare the numbers for for instance two different years.
If you have a tutorial for how you do it, it would be great to see it.

How does the problem manifest? I assume you tried setting the offset to something like -1y in Timelion?
