How can i continue to participate in the k4 bug fixes without having to switch on ES 2.0?

Hi,
with commit "132740d" (Bumping the minimum version to 2.0) k4 will not launches without ES-2. 0.
How can i continue to participate in the k4 bug fixes on a ES-1.6 ?
