hi there,
we use lots of metric count visualizations in kibana. showing a simple metric
count doesn't lend itself to having a legend (imho). thus we have lots of legend buttons
that simply clutter the screen. is there a way to just turn the legend off?

Can't do it currently. You could open this up as an enhancement request on the kibana repo, https://github.com/elastic/kibana/issues/new.
