I can't find logs on elasticsearch

Hi, I have a problem on finding the logs on the elasticsearch docker. I can see them on kibana but I don't know where to find them.
this is the docker-compose.yml that I used in order to create all the containers

can you help?

Can you elaborate a little more please, what logs are you referring to?

logs from the beats that are sent to elasticsearch and that I can see on kibana. Aren't they supposed to be stored on some file?

another thing is: is there a way to upgrade elk version without losing logs? I am currently trying to upgrade to 8.4, I modified the version and pulled the images using docker-compose pull but that is not enough.

Take a look at cat indices API | Elasticsearch Guide [8.4] | Elastic to see what indices you have in your cluster.

why do i need to see what indices i have in my cluster?

by the way there is no index in here.

Show Us....

No logs that are shipped to elasticsearch are not stored in user accessible files they are stored in lucene binary format.

What was the output of Kibana - Dev Tools

GET _cat/indices?v

Finally what are you trying to accomplish, if you see the logs in Kibana what else do you want to do? Once the data is in elasticsearch you solely access that data or clean it up through indices / data streams.

that is the result.

My problem is that if I want a backup of those logs, i don't know where to find them.
In this moment I am trying to upgrade to a newer version of elk but I don't know how to do it if not by destroying all containers with docker-compose down, modify the docker-compose.yml with new images and then docker-compose up.
is there a better solution?

here's my docker-compose.yml

You are using persistent volumes for docker, so you won't lose the data.

you mean by using docker-compose down i won't lose any data?
because that command should destroy the containers -> i won't have data anymore

I though that was the path for the server with the containers, but turns out this is the path in the docker, so I really don't know how I should behave
