Index pattern > field format > color hex codes removed in 7.15.2?

I used to be able to set a hex code for the particular color that I wanted for a field in an index pattern, but that looks to have been replaced with a color graph and no option to set the value exactly.

so now I cannot get exact matches across multiple index patterns.

am I missing something?!

Its still possible to set the value if you click in the very narrow (one pixel??) space left for the hex value. It certainly not acceptable, just trying to make the best of a flawed situation.

There may be other methods if you need to do this on a large scale, such as using REST APIs.
