Is elastic contains two different memory?

Hi everyone..! Greetings...!
I studied that elasticsearch is using inverted indices to perform search much faster. My doubt is that is elasticsearch contains two different memories? one for inverted indices and another to store the documents?.
Kindly clarify my doubt.
