Is it safe to write into a green index in a red cluster?

hello, IIUC, i can write documents to a green index even if the cluster is red and trying to allocating shards.

but is it safe to do it? anything i should watch out for?

If the index is green and you get a 200 response for the document(s), then you will be ok.
