Is the AWS S3 gateway deprecated?

(Kubes) #1

I am setuping a new cluster on AWS and an looking at using the S3 gateway,
but in the logs I saw:

[gateway.s3 ] [Red Ghost] shared gateway has been deprecated,
please use the (default) local gateway

Is the S3 gateway been deprecated? I did not see any note to such in the
documentation
(http://www.elasticsearch.org/guide/reference/modules/gateway/s3.html). If
so why?

Thanks!

Is there a new version of S3 storing solution:

I am working with elasticsearch 1.1.1 RPM package and I am trying to
connect to S3 bucket, but the error is the same, and am getting another log
error :

  1. AmazonS3Exception[Status Code: 403, AWS Service: Amazon S3, AWS Request
ID: 172059E8FD3AA401, AWS Error Code: SignatureDoesNotMatch, AWS Error
Message: The request signature we calculated does not match the signature
you provided. Check your key and signing method.]2) AmazonS3Exception[Status
Code: 403, AWS Service: Amazon S3, AWS Request ID: 1A8183DCF0382134, AWS
Error Code: SignatureDoesNotMatch, AWS Error Message: The request signature
we calculated does not match the signature you provided. Check your key and
    signing method.]

is it still deprecated until now ??
Thanks for your help.

Gateways have been removed in 1.2: https://github.com/elasticsearch/elasticsearch/issues/5422

You can snapshot your indices to S3 if you need a backup using snapshot and restore feature.
