Kibana Creating Charts for Short Text Strings

I would like to create some bar charts for example like you do with IP`s that shows their frequency count for short strings.

My use case is that I have a field that has url paths stored in them and would like to generate charts for them.

FOUND IT!

I had set the fields I wanted to visualize to keyword as per the docs but Kibana was not seeing the changes and I had to refresh the index from
MANAGEMENT => KIBANA => INDEX PATTERNS

That solved the problem.
