Kibana creating visualisation ip range

I am having a few problems with creating a visualisation based on ipv4 range. Here are the mappings for the index:

My IP field is called ClientIP_access, when I select ipv4 range while setting up a bucket it states that the no valid field exists.

Am I doing something wrong?

Hi @calanon,

I think the mapping for client ip should be type ip not text for it to work.

Hi Chris,

You can't change mappings for an existing index. I believe you need to create a new index with new mapping and then reindex your data. I see this blog that may help explain: https://www.elastic.co/blog/changing-mapping-with-zero-downtime
