Kibana v5.6.2, generic, fresh install with x-pack. No reverse proxy front-end or any

When I try to generate a short URL from Kibana, it generates without error.

However when I attempt to navigate to that URL, I get an error from Kibana:

Kibana does not provide any data in the error logs, however I'm seeing some 404s in kibana.stdout:

Is this a known bug? Something incorrect with my setup? Any knowledge, advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I can't reproduce locally. Generating a short url, and navigating to that short url, in 5.6.2 with x-pack installed, works fine for me.

Does the browser console give you any error messages?

Are you navigating to that url in the same browser it was generated? (e.g. - did you have to log in again).

Can you navigate to that dashboard using the long url?

What browser are you using? Do you get the same error if you try another one?

This has happened on two nodes -- one which I upgraded, and then another which was a fresh install. Both 5.6.2.

No error messages past the one in red from Kibana

Are you navigating to that url in the same browser it was generated? (e.g. - did you have to log in again).
Security is disabled for x-pack. Doesn't matter which browser. I found this issue once I tried to distribute the short URL and it didn't work for anyone.

Have tested with both Chrome and Firefox, get the same error on both.

The long URL however does generate just fine.

Hmm. Can you turn on verbose logging (logging.verbose: true in kibana.yml) and see if there is any more output generated in the terminal?

I tried again with xpack security disabled but am still not able to repro.

How are you grabbing these logs? It looks like this is not quite what I'm looking for - there should be a lot more output.

For instance, that error message sometimes appears when there is a syntax error during the optimization process. I can trigger an error and this is a snippet of the output in my terminal with logging.verbose: true turned on (which you may not even need).

It looks like you are only capturing network data from the browser? I'm looking for the server logs in the terminal where you are running ./bin/kibana.

btw, I suspect this has to do with having the advanced setting state:storeInSessionStorage turned on. Is that the case? Do you still see the problem if you turn this setting off?

I did try to repro with that setting on, but am still not able to. With that setting on, I am able to grab /bundles/stateSessionStorageRedirect.style without getting the 404 error.

I am simply tailing /var/log/kibana/kibana.stdout for those logs. logging.verbose: true These logs are directly from the Kibana server.
