I've just installed Kibana and all the installation guides I've seen tell me I need to slightly amend this file. However they all give it's location as /opt/kibana/config/kibana.yml but mine is in /etc/kibana/kibana.yml
Is this an installation error and if not will it cause any problems?
I'm afraid it depends on the version of Kibana. Older 4.x versions used the path /opt/kibana/config/kibana.yml but that has been changed in 5.x to /etc/kibana/kibana.yml (which is consistent with Elasticsearch also).
Also the Kibana installation used to be under /opt/kibana but is now under /usr/share/kibana (consistent with Elasticsearch again).
Which version of Kibana are you using and what is the link to the documentation you're using?
