"Latest" transform new feature - does it reduce load compared to a scripted metric?

I have been making use of scripted metrics to find the latest document inside a traditional transform.

The new "Latest" document transform offering works to work really well and is dead simple to use!

Question - would the "latest" transform running with high frequency, every 1s, cause reduced load on the cluster compared to using scripted metric in a normal transform? I would expect it has been designed to, but would be great to hear from the Elastic team on this one.

Thanks in advance.
Mark

If your original transform was using a similar frequency, then yes, latest will be much more performant and reduce load on the cluster.
