New to ES and need some help

Hey guys and gals,

Django Dev here. I've currently inherited a project that is using ES, we sat down and did a rewrite of the queries and mapping, but now I'm unsure where to put the pieces. I've included a gist of the code and need to incorporate the query into my model, any and all help would be amazing...I feel like I'm treading in the deep ocean at the moment.
