NodeClient licensing + support status

Hi,

Does node-client count for a node in the subscribed node licensing limit?

Also, I read in this x-Pack sub-forum that NodeClient was 'oldfashioned' and 'not supported' anymore.

I tried searching for it, but couldn't find a recent entry regarding the recommendation of NodeClient vs Transport Client in 5.4.x or the licensing question.

Please advise. :slight_smile:

It does not.

We are moving away from node and transport clients to all HTTP.

NodeClients are as far as I know not supported by X-Pack security. You will need to communicate with the cluster via HTTP or the Transport protocol. Dedicated Coordinating Nodes, aka Client Nodes, are however supported.
