Nodes restarting with shards initializing

Our elastic cluster had some nodes restarted with a network outage and when they were back, we were monitoring the shard reallocations.

The question is, even on unaffected nodes were there shards in the state of "INITIALIZING". Considering all the previous affected nodes were up and no reallocation of shards were observed, why would the unaffected nodes display such initialisation?

What version are you on?
What is the output from _cat/recovery?v?

Hi Mark,

We're running 2.4. The recovery command would be useful during the problem I would guess, at the moment the cluster has long recovered.

4

2.4 is EOL and no longer supported. You would be best off upgrading urgently.
