Long time lurker, first time poster to the list. Quick introduction, I'm
Leslie Hawthorn, Community Manager for Elasticsearch. I joined Elasticsearch
Inc. in mid-August 2013 to focus on helping the user community blossom and
share their knowledge most effectively. I also work on marketing efforts,
including our community blog, customer case studies and events worldwide to
educate folks about Elasticsearch.
I'm frequently hearing from community meetup organizers that they are looking
for more speakers on Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana topics and I am
confident that several folks on this list would be interested in giving
talks at local meetups. Folks are also looking for co-organizers or are
interested in kicking off an Elasticsearch meetup in their home city.
If you'd be interested in getting involved in meetups, please take a moment
to fill out this form so I can begin connecting everyone.
The information provided on this form will be shared with me and with meetup
organizers who are seeking speakers or collaborators to organize meetups.
We will not use your information for any other purpose without your opt-in.
Thanks in advance for your help. Looking forward to meeting many of you at
Elasticsearch meetups!
If there is anyone in Sydney, AU, that would be willing to help organise a
meeting please drop me an off-list email.
I've been in contact with Leslie over the past few weeks and we have a
potential date organised to coincide with the Sydney training in November,
at this stage we're just looking for a venue to host us.

And we now have a venue in Sydney courtesy of the fine folks at
Atlassian. If you're in Sydney, please join us!
This will be my last post to this group about meetups, unless I get a
resounding chorus off-list that people want to hear about such things
in this forum. If you'd like to speak at a meetup, please do let me
know.

Leslie, I would have thought announcing local meetups is a great idea on
this forum, you can always prefix the subject with [Meetup] or whatever as
you've done. I don't think it's noise at all, I would think it's another
good channel.
