Hi, We are trying to migrate from Elasticsearch 7.x to 8.x. We were using opendistro security, job scheduler, alerting, anomaly-detection and index management plugins. I am seeing now opendistro doesn't have new versions for 8.x Elasticsearch and moved to opensearch project. Can I still use those plugins with Elasticsearch 8.x? If not what are the free alternatives?
OpenSearch/OpenDistro are AWS run products and differ from the original Elasticsearch and Kibana products that Elastic builds and maintains. You may need to contact them directly for further assistance.

No, those plugins are not compatible with newer versions of Elasticsearch. You either need to go with the default distribution of Elasticsearch and stop using these third party plugins or transition to Opensearch.
Will the default distribution of Elasticsearch cover those plugins' functionality for free? Or do I have to buy a license?
Some are covered by the free Basic license but other features likely require a commercial license. You can see here what is available with which type of license.
