I've been looking into replacing our nagios installation with something more versatile and have been testing zabbix. I've metered-up a few hosts but have been wondering about whether the data that the zabbix 'agent' collects is already being collected by Metricbeat. I suspect that the zabbix agent has a few additional features (eg "active mode") but its not clear where it truly stands apart from Metricbeat.
I would say this is up to you, and it probably depends on the data you are getting. Is there anything missing in Metricbeat that would make you require another agent running? A single agent means less management burden, but it's not really an issue to have both running on the same machine.
