Question about release scheduling

Hi,

As part of a masters degree assignment we need to address some questions about the Elasticsearch to the developers. The question is:

  • How are the release schedule planned in relation to deciding when to increase a version (either major or minor)? They are scheduled periodically (for example every month) or based on the number of new features added to the project?

If you can't answer my question, do you know anywhere where I can get this information from?

We typically do majors once a year, minors once every 6-8 weeks, and patches as needed. We don't publish anything specific about this as it allows us flexibility based on the features we are building (and being asked for).
