I heard before that jre 7u40 to 7u45 were not recommended to use with
Elasticsearch. I used jre-7u25 with Elasticsearch 0.90.x We are now using
Beta2 version, and i noticed that latest java update is jre-7u51, would it
be ok to use it with Elasticsearch 1.0.0.Beta2?
The issues that plague 7u40 and 7u45 are related to Lucene and not directly
to Elasticsearch. Lucene is being continually being built with Java 7u51
and 7u60 and I do not think any major issues have been found yet. There are
several Lucene committers on this list, so maybe they will chime in (I only
read the Lucene user mailing list, not the developer one).

My understanding was that the scope of the JFK/Guava bug was limited and did not affect Lucene/Solr. Elasticsearch uses Guava for collections and caching, not sure about reflection.

BTW, I cannot believe 7u51 did not fix the previous Lucene bug since it has
been known for a while. So frustrating. ETA for 7u60 is May. 7u25 will be
almost a year old by then.

Oracle Java 8 FCS is already out. GA version will be ready in March.
But I know of issues with Java 8 and MVEL, so if you use MVEL scripts, be
aware...
