Request Per-minute - Graph vs summary

I'm trying to understand what I'm seeing during the Observabiltity Engineer (On Demand) training course.

I'm currently looking at an APM - Transactions - Requests Per Minute graph during lab 5.1. The graph on my instance looks almost exactly like the graph in the course materials.

It shows a "Last 15 minutes" view of transactions, with the points in the "Request per minute" graph ranging between 11rpm and 3rpm. Then summarises this at the bottom as "37 rpm".

What's going on here? Is the graph itself of any use except as a relative measure?
