Restarting a failed Master Node

I'm just reading through the documentation at: https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/guide/2.x/_coping_with_failure.html

What the documentation doesn't make clear is when a previously failed master node is reinstated, does the master node change back to this node, or will the node that became the master continue to be the master?

Some clarification on the above would be appreciated.

Do you mean master? There's no primary/secondary nodes in ES.
