Running as a different user

Are there any constraints or special considerations when running Elasticsearch as a user other than elasticsearch? Any specific considerations when updating?

Assumptions/Environment:
Installed from RPM (RHEL7)
systemd unit file needs updated
filesystem ownership needs updated

as i know running with users out root is all ok.
