Shard doesn't get replicated

Hi,

We have a configured our elasticsearch to have 142 indices, 5 shards and 1 replica. We have the issue with one of the shards where it's replica is not created at all. Shard 2 of one of our metricbeat indices is never created as a replica.

What could be the reason that one shard is not replicated? Is it possible to force replication of a specific shard?

What is the output from the cluster allocation explain API? You can find the docs and commands here

Not related to your question but I suspect you will suffer at some point from too many shards per node.
