Source Only Snapshot Fails for Old Version Indices after Upgrading Cluster

Hello, I try to use snapshot on old indices, old indices is from es 6.5.1. I ugpraded to es 7.11.2
Since I want to reserve more spaces, I want to use _source only snapshot on indices, but I got an error when I try to use the snapshot,
because it is an old topic, I just want to know will this be fixed or nah,
maybe I can just put the old discussion thread because the topic wasn't answered, and the open issue on github wasn't answered too
