Total Storage for Data Nodes

I was watching the webinars on sizing, and they give this math equation to calculate Total Storage needed - Total Storage (GB) = Total Data (GB) * (1 + 0.15 default Disk watermark threshold + 0.05 Margin of error)

And it's noted that in larger clusters, the failover node isn't needed. Wouldn't it be more accurate to calculate total storage with this equation though? Total Storage (GB) = Total Data (GB) / .8

Otherwise, the storage you provisioned would actually be around 83.3% used, which seems way too close to catch before it slips into the 85% default low watermark. Is the recommendation to have your cluster at 80% full, or 83.3%?
