Unused metricset.period was droped, but still can be seen in update

I noticed that in the 7.16 update (GitHub PR #6111), the metricset.period field was marked as dropped because it was unused. However, I still find this field present in later versions, such as 7.17, as described in the APM exported fields documentation for span metrics. How can this discrepancy be explained?

Nice catch. I'm afraid the documentation is out of date. metricset.period seems to be unused in span metrics in 7.17.

So it is just a kind of field in the log, not the configuration for the apm-server? It can not control the frequency of the event date collection?

That is correct. It is just a field in the resulting aggregated metric document.
